Ipod interface by XCarLink

Featured Replies

Has anyone had any experiance or thoughts on the ipod interface from XCarLink ? SKODA :: XCarLink

I am considering getting one for the Octy (Bolaro radio as standard fitting) and would welcome any advice.

We are using one in SHMBO's MK5 Golf (RCD300 radio).

Good system IMO, it's plug and play, you can still use the CD multi changer (if fitted) as well, it charges the iPod and turns the iPod off when the radio / ignition is turned off, providing all your music is on no more than 5 play lists then you can listen to all of your music.

The only down side is it doesn't display the track or play list ID on the radio, but that we can live with, the sound quality is superb.

We paid £50 (best offer) from a dealer on eBay selling new ones.

Thanks for the reply , I did check on the forum and there was a post in May 2008 but the link does not work.I was a bit concerned as the price seemed a bit low. But there again in my previous car I had a HarmanKardon ipod interface that I got new for £20 and it worked perfectley.

Just fitted one myself and agree with gizmo- sound quality is ace, much better than a radio thingy. Bought mine direct from xcarlink direct. Was a bit of a mission getting the radio back in with all the wires etc but worth it.

I had one on my last Octy (2005 too early for the MP3 socket). It was a fiddle to install but it worked well once I got it hooked up. I took it out when I traded it in so I have it sitting here doing nothing. Make me a half decent offer and it's yours - I just haven't got round to sticking it on ebay. :-)
