Rear wiper clip

Featured Replies

Is it me, or is the clip holding the rear wiper blade to the arm impossibly fragile?!

I've managed to break two since owning the car

First one broke when the pressure washer jet caught the wiper when rinsing it down. The blade flipped round and took half the clip with it. Fair enough I thought, the old blade was smearing a bit so a trip to the dealer later and I fitted a new blade (which comes with a new clip).

But this Sunday morning I managed to break it with when cleaning the blade with my washmitt! I'm not heavy-handed when washing the car so I was more then a little annoyed

So just a rant about it really; I'm leaving the blade down on the screen for all future washing procedures!

Don't think the clips are available separately either, so it's probably new blade time again!!!

Thanks for listening,

Steve.

Must be you matey, not had a problem with mine ;)

Yep, same thing happened to me when trying to manually separate the blade from the screen when ice had frozen the two together.

I have had exactly the same thing (broken 2 clips recently) - damn that jet wash!!!

At least the car is clean again though.......

Did you end up buying another blade which includes the clip? I wouldn't mind so much if the clips were available separately; I'd buy several - but they don't appear to be :(

Not bought a new one yet, was hoping to try to figure a more secure way of keeping the blade on, but will probably have to get a new one at some point.

Does anyone know where you can get the rear wipers for reasonable money - Halfrauds want £16 which seems a little bit steep, especially given that I keep breaking them!

Go to a dealer. Think it was circa £8 for my last one...

Steve

I paid £5.90 from the local Skoda dealership.

When you jetwash, why don't you just remove the blade ? My problem is that it falls off way too easily.

I'm not taking the rear wiper off everytime I wash the car! That was sort of my point, that the design isn't very good and that the clip holding the blade on is too fragile.

Sound advice

I had gone to Halfrauds previously just because it is more convenient - I won't be doing that again . The dealer just supplied me with the blade and clip (part no. 7E0955425) for £5.90. The clip on this one seems a little more sturdy than previous ones I have had.

The same clip is used across a whole variety of VAG cars. Yes they are flimsy!

Just ordered a replacement blade and clip pack from Jorily. I wouldn't be so bothered if they the clips were orderable separately and I'd buy a few! Would still be annoying, as I've never had this issue with any other hatchback, but at least it would save building up a collection of wiper blades  - hopefully this will be the last one as the arm and blade are staying firmly on the screen at all times from now on!
