In Car DVD for the sprogs

Featured Replies

SWMBO has asked me to look around for x2 screens that the sprogs can watch DVD's on.

Ideally they will need to be put on the front headrests so they can't touch them as my kids are only 2 & 4years old, whats the picture like on a 7" screen at that distance from where your sat and how loud are the onboard speakers?

In the ideal world I would have a nice built in system that can be controlled from the front of the car and the screens in the rear being just screens but I can't afford to look at that at the moment.

Requirements

X2 screens

x1 dvd player with the option to connect to both screens

x I guess headphone sockets on the screens although I would prefer not to use headphones

x ability to plug into the cigarette lighter for power

x preferably one that plays mpeg formats so we dont have to keep changing the dvd

Anything else you can think of that I might need??

What do you have and what are your thoughts/opinions?

Would this be worth a look? Buy Goodmans 7in In Car Portable DVD Player,Games. at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for .

Thanks

I'm looking for something similar and think you will need a slightly bigger screen for them.

I will follow this thread.

I too was thinking the screens might be to small. I'm going to go and have a look in Argos at it tomorrow.

I hopefully should be picking a Alpine IVA-D310RB HU and then linking a couple of screens to this.

How big do you want FFS?

You wont get much bigger than 10" for a car kit unless you want to spend some serious £££. Most in car systems that are factory fit are 7-10"

I was thinking 8"+.

You know that an extra inch makes all the difference.;)

I went down to Argos to look at the above but they were out of stock and it's an end of line deal (so they tell me) so wont be getting any more in stock.

I had a look at some single players with a 7" screen and they seemed OK and would probably be fine on the mk1 octi but if they were to be used in a larger car with more space between the front and back seats you would in my opinion want to be looking at a 9" screen.

For now I've decided to wait and not buy anything and will put up with the kids shouting and singing and will also try to aim the long drive for when they might want a nap for some peace and quiet.

I got a 2 screen DVD player about 3 years ago from Aldi, IIRC it's made by Tevion. I have had a quick google but I couldn't find anything similar. It's quite handy because it's a flat unit and the screen lifts up and the DVD goes in behind the screen. Does keep the kids quiet but you do have the speakers directly behind your head which can get a bit annoying after a while.

Just found this site, they seem to be the importer for Tevion and they do a facier looking one, but not sure where to buy one from though.

I think Tevion are the same as Medion of Tesco/Aldi computer fame.
