Think I read the leverage to unclip it needs starting on the bottom part of the glass. I popped out some glass from a mirror using a flat screwdriver wrapped with a cloth, from the bottom/underside edge first.

Can the part lower part separately from the rest?

i.e. the baseplate and the bit that hinges on it?

cos mine still works and the glass is intact and the painted bit.

F**ked! There's a large metal bit which connects the swivel part into the base, and when that breaks (usually the case when the mirror is kicked hard, or hit hard by another car) it's new mirror time. Glass can be removed, re-connected into new mirror, and re-clipped in.

I am just asking because I know the painting bit is the most expensive part of it all, so I am guessing I can swap the painted bit onto the new mirror and the glass, as both are undamaged.

Well I know behind the glass there's loads of small screws holding the metal part of the frame of the swivelly part (techie term ) which is part of the whole bit that forms the base as well. They join together with a real tough spring loaded part that I've tried to get apart on a mirror I have, but I couldn't manage it. :(

i just bought a new mirror from slowda! for the full unit with spraying cost £120!

one bolt behind the tweeter in the door to take the whole mirror off!

my casing was broken too! but i was unable to buy just a case and the bit you circled i had to buy the lot as its a pita to sepearate the heating element and electric mirror bit!
