Things your car has done that have surprised you

Featured Replies

We all know that our Estelles and Rapids are all different and most certainly have an individual character, however at times I am still suprised at what they do. I will share a couple of stories - please do share yours too.

First story. It was a pleasant day (around 65 F) so I took the family out in the 130LSE. Upon arriving at our destination we opened the doors and at that time ALL of the little inserts in the door pull popped out. They were not broken and were tricky to refit, but the car had decided to throw them all out - almost like playing a trick!

Next, I was driving home in my Rapid and at the roundabout it decided that it was not that fussed about carrying on moving after the first few yards. Traffic approching I tried choke, no choke and revs - but no, it would not have it. I got angry and said a rude word and mashed the accelerator to the mat - MOVE you silly car! After full throttle and the rude word the car stopped with such forse that I was thrown forwards - much more potent than the brakes. "Next time be more kind or you will get more of that" the car almost said.

I have more stories, but over to you now.

its alive!!!!!

I'm surprised every time my 130L goes and stops with all the abuse I give it. I don't deserve such a reliable motor.

Looking at photo of Tailhappy's car -certain my old mate had an Estelle - waaaaaaaaaaaaay back - which went ,once you'd got it started .One day I decided to check it out - looking for bad plugs /points etc .Found out the dizzie was loose.Tightened it up and as long as he had it it started .

did about 40 miles in 30 minutes, and I stopped for petrol and again for a phonecall. Faster than the speed of sound, mine is.

learning how to get the best out of a rear engined car over the snake pass I guess... feathering the throttle to bring the nose into line was a little strange at first.. oh and of course just how bloody responsive the thing is with turning into corners :D...

Got my Rapid in 2003 and it never ceases to amaze me! Always starts always runs and always stops!

Took it on the S2N rally in 2006 and did 2800 miles in 6 days, never missed a beat.

Run it at Pod and normally dont have any trouble.

Fitted LPG and removed the petrol, bolted on a turbo from an R5, give it 50 of Nitrous and it just keeps taking it!

Run it in the PPC CHallenge 2008 but the LPG was the problem and in 2009 it WORKS

:ashamed: Need to change the gearbox now but then what do you expect:rofl:

That it could actually drift, going into a corner hard and throttling off, lol first time was fun as hell and surprising, have lots of fun with roundabouts now.
