MF steering wheel prices

Featured Replies

The optional factory fit MF steering wheels on offer appear to have a strange pricing structure.

According to the current brochure regarding Elegance trim, a 4 spoke with radio and maxidot controls costs £225 and by adding phone Bluetooth bumps the total costs up to £530 - a difference of £305.

However, the 3 spoke version costs £330 and £690 respectively - a difference of £360!

I would expect that the addition of phone Bluetooth function to any of the MF wheels should cost the same, regardless of which wheel is incurred.

doesnt the 3 spoke have flappy paddles as well? (not that that should cost £360!!)

The 4 spoke are for the manual transmisions whereas the DSGs have the 3 spoke including paddle shift. The phone Bluetooth is the same regardless of wheel, so why the price difference?

My guess is that the sort of people who like flappy paddles* are more likely to like Bluetooth gadgets, so Skoda can get away with charging a slightly higher premium without reducing take up of this option.

That would make sense to me. Ultimately the prices will be set to make as much money as possible, not to be particularly logical.

* (like me! - I have ordered this steering wheel, but don't have a mobile phone so no need for Bluetooth, so I'm the exception to my own rule)

Given that the addition of the Bluetooth telephone function costs approximately £300 I have been trying to find out some more information on what sort of system it is and how it works. My local dealer and Skoda customer services have been unable to help.

I had the Bluetooth kit supplied by Stu fitted to my previous vehicle and I thought it was excellent. I would like to know how the Bluetooth option described in the latest brochure compares with Stu's kit.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

The Octavia manual can be downloaded from the Skoda Auto website here

This seems to explain how the system should work.

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
