felicia 1.3lxi thermostat too cold!

Featured Replies

Hi,

Not sure if this is a common problem or not but the temperature gauge on my felicia 1.3 lxi (vreg) seems to stay around the 70 degrees mark a lot. Recently had a 2 hour motorway journey on a hot day and was barely going above 70. Then when I came off the motorway it seemed to jump back up to normal temperature.

Since then it rarely goes above 75 degrees, even on short town journeys, does anyone know what the problem is likely to be, or should I just leave it?

Possible your temperature sender is packing up. Also, check your thermostat isn't starting to fail and interfering with the coolant flow or catching on the temperature sender.

Yep... it is VERY common.

You have two options...

Someone here has just ordered one of these:

Skoda Felicia 1.3 Mpi Thermostat-MK2 VERSION !!!! - £19.99 : Skoda Parts, Jorily, The Skoda Parts Shop - Probably the UKs largest independent skoda parts supplier

It replaces just the thermostat and half the housing and allows the thermostat to be replaced seperately to the housing at a later date.

Or you can buy the complete housing (with temperature sender) from a skoda dealer which could work out better if it's the original housing and sender (the sender will probably need replacing at some point anyway!) The complete unit is circa £50.

You could also try unplugging the temperature sender while the engine is up to temperature (from the top of the thermostat housing) and if the revs drop slightly and becomes lump then the sensor is probably fine (as the signal is being sent to the ecu ok.

Yep I've got the same problem Charliebob.... infact I'm the one who ordered the part. It's been dispatched today so I'll let you know how the install goes.

Thanks for your help, let me know if it fixes your problem.

I'll try the sender unplugging soon and see what happens!
