hi folks, what's the best way to wire up two amps to the same power cable? i've looked at some commoning blocks which split the 4awg feed cable into 3 4awg outlets.. do i need to get the type which has an individual fuse for each outlet or can i just use a plain one which just simply splits it (each amplifier has it's own fuse/fuses anyway)? the space is very limited!! the cable is fused in the engine bay right next to the battery..

would i need an additional commoning block to connect all the earths to the same place?? will it create an earth loop if i earth the amps in different locations?

too many questions methinks, it's JL Audio amplifiers and speakers.. any good?

if your running 4awg thru the car mate it should split to smaller cable i thought,

say run evil 2awg then a dist block then your 4awg to each amp

what power are your amps bud?

they aren't big powerful amps, it's a JL audio G4500 and a JL G2250, they both have 4awg direct connections on (no terminals needed, the wire goes straight in) , there's nowhere i could get a monster 2 guage through the bulkhead and it's not worth it for that sort of power anyway.

You should get a away with 4awg from battery to distribution block which has a fuse for each amp then take a 6awg or maybe a 8awg for each amp.

What are the fuse rating for each amp?

I would also have 1 earth going to another distribution block that isn't fused that splits into 2 or 4 and the same AWG rating cable as the power.

You should also fuse the main power near the battery.

i got a G2250 in the mrs fabia on 8awg and its fine

i must admit 2awg is a pain, it angerd me on mine and my mates grrrr

maplin use to do a great priced circuit breaker for about £14, and 100Amp i seem to rem, perfect for 4AWG, for the fusing near battery.

Best way to match cable for an amp is to see what the amps are fused at, and take it from there, but like jaymd said, if your only using a short run from a distro block (again maplin did a solidd brass and gold plate one for £12 ish) i wouldnt have thought you'd have probs
