fitting felicia power steering

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm driving a 2000 felicia 1.3mpi and would really like power steering.

Does anyone know if a power steering rack will fit straight into a non power steering model.

I was also considering fitting an electric power steering pump from another manufacturer instead of modifying the pulleys etc.

Has anyone done this mod.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

This has come up on the forums a few times and I think the general consensus is...

Either stick with manual and put an extra few PSI in the front tyres to help ease it a bit. Or get hold of one with power steering already fitted.

I recently fitted new front tyres (Vredestein Quatrac 2 - I live in the Peak District & winter weather can be interesting!) and it has made a huge difference to the weight of the steering. Before it was very heavy at slow speed (on the original Continental Contact tyres) and I was missing not having p/s, but now it is much better and I no longer feel it needs p/s. I don't know if all modern tyres are as good as the Quatrac 2, but if you are likely to need new tyres soon, I would wait to see how much difference they make.
