Fabia 1.2 12v (64)

Featured Replies

We went out today and looked at a couple of Fabia's for the wife. Found a 1.2 (64) Silverline we both liked so have stuck a deposit down on it. Had a good look around it and took it for a drive and it all felt and seemed very good. The only thing we found wrong was the internal central locking button didn't work. As the car would be for my wife, would like this to be working if she is driving alone. Anyone know if this is an easy fix or can be sorted via VAGCOM?

Also are there any other known problems or anything I should look out for, like timing belt change etc. before we sign on the line?

Thanks

Take it the 1.2 is pretty reliable since there are no responces?

Hi mate,

Is it a Skoda Dealer you are buying from? If so Skoda should fix this for you.

I'm sure you can use Vagcom to set up a hijack feature where the car goes above 10mph and it locks all the doors automatically, I have this on mine and is one of the best things for safety.

For common problems sure there is a thread in this section to look into, main things I can think about are leaky door seals which results in wet carpets, a quick fix, wipers blowing fuses in the winter.

Sure the cambelt would be replaced at 60k or at 4 years old but I could be wrong.

Hope this helps?

No cambelt on 1.2 its a camchain. Provided , oil is changed regularly and oil level is maintained (critical it doesnt dip below minimum), this is a reliable motor.

Thanks guys

It is an independant trader who specialises in VAG cars, so will ask later today about sorting the locking. I've got the anti-hijack thing on my Bora that I enabled with VAGCOM, and would enable it on the Fabia too, but wondered if the fault with the internal button would stop if from enabling. If they don't or can't fix it, it gives me a little room to barter the price a bit ;)

Have read about the door seals, and all seemed good there, although its not rained up here for a while.

Its a 53 plate with 76k on it, so would have imagined the belt would have been replaced, but was unsure if it was a chain like the 1.4, but Skodakid has just answered that question

It has a full service history so would imagine the oil has been changed regularly, and the dipstick seemed to have plenty showing on it :)

sounds like you have got yourself a cracking car aside from the locking button but if dealer is a VAG specialist sure would be able to fix this for you.

Cheers Skodaboy. If all goes well will get it all finalised today and get some pics up of it.

Sure I recognise your car from SVAG too

Yep I'm from SVAG as well mate.

Coil packs can go which can be a problem as the motor is only a three cylinder. Great little engine though.

Well we went and did the paperwork this afternoon, so my wife now is a Skoda owner. They are going to sort the locking button, give it a service and MoT, then we can pick it up.

Will be on the lookout for some vRS bumpers soon I think ;)

Will get some pics up in a min :)
