Engine wants to die when I start it on the morning

Featured Replies

Hello Guys,

I have a 2002 Octavia L&K 1.8Turbo. My problem beguin some days ago.

Everytime I start the engine in the morning, the engine wants to die....... I see the RPM drops a lots, the engine vibrate/shuddering then the throttle body compensator adjust it in order that the engine does not die.

This only happends every day JUST in the first start of the morning then all the day start without any problem. So I dont think the problem is that the throttle body is dirty....BTW I removed and cleaned on Nov 2008

NO malfuntion light indicator on the instrument cluster.

I dont have a VAG-COM

Waht you think is the problem?

THX,

Isaac

Mine used to do exactly the same thing, but the throttle body clean sorted it out

I thought it was something quite serious, as it used to die as soon as I tried pulling off, and would shake and shudder like a good 'un

And after that initial shake and shudder, it would be perfect all day

So, try cleaning, you wont believe the difference.....

Steve

Temperature sensor maybe, as in your car thinks it's warm so doesn't do the full cold start thing.

Maybe

Do you mean the Coolant temperature sensor? Its my undertanding that there are 2 coolant sensors. Which one you recomend me to check and what color sensor I need to have.

I remeber on 2003 I use to have a GREEN coolant sensor that use to give problems and at that time the Skoda Dealer change it for one I think is purple.

I have no take the car the Skoda dealer yet, but is the problem is some sensor I can change myself, I will do it.

THX,

Isaac
