Octavia vrs mk1 sound system

Featured Replies

Hi,

does anyone know if you can add an amp / sub to the standard head unit? Not sure if there are any pre outs or will i need to purchase a new one and go from there. I upgraded the front speakers to a pair of alpines however the bass still isnt the greatest. Any suggestions on brands etc?

Thanks

id start from scratch if i was u bud, i got a blaupunkt HU up front wid ipod etc. custom built sub box in space where cd changer used to be, 1000w jbl sub wid 300w amp ( soon to be placed in cubby in boot), 2 13cm speakers replacin the rears ( had to make mount adapters) and lookin at comps for front doors. sounds better just with new hu, all depends how far u wanna go and how much u wanna spend.

i was suprised that a car of this quality didnt have a better sound system. enjoy :)

cheers for the quick reply mate.... not looking at spending too much as i just had a massive bill for the motor already. The alpine speakers in the front are great the guy in the shop said i could run a amp/sub off the rear speaker cables and power it that way if i kept the standard head unit or lose the changer and get a new head unit on top. said for decent amp/sub 1000w with fitting about 300notes then plus the head unit if i wanted to change that.

Does that sound like a good plan considering i only want a bit of extra base or will changing over the head unit make a massive difference for the extra 100 or so notes?
