uprated front arb

Featured Replies

To anyone who has fitted an oe uprated front arb to their vrs, did you fit the r32 (23mm) or the s3 (21mm) and does anyone have any suggestions as to which would go better with my eibach rear arb?

cheers

Sweedish

I have the R32 Front ARB and the Eibach Rear ARB.

Im using H&R Coilovers on the car and find that setup perfect. Its flat, balanced and confident in the corners. I have used it on track many times and have no plans to change the setup :)

If your local to Ashford (Kent) your welcome to give it a drive.

Kind Regards

hi garry,

well i picked up an s3 one which is 21mm, but kind of want the 23mm bar, however just wondered if anyone had experienced the difference. I might just sell the s3 one as its new and get the thicker bar instead.

Well im near dartford, but will be down to see mike at impossible soon as he is going to supply my new coilovers, i might take you up on the offer, and knowing you have the same setup its good to know its balanced.....my thoughts were the the 23mm bar might be too much however by the sound of it not.

AM LIKING your quick rack mod too, nice one!........... it looks good, problem is if i drive yours i am going to have to get it done as well!!!

Ha Ha, yes, yes you will.... Its the future i tell you :D

My mate splitting the R32 still has the Front ARB. I shall see what he wants for it, be cheaper than a new one.

Yes, just drop me a PM when you about :)

Sweedish! Would you be willing to post that S3 arb to Ireland?

I to have an Eibach rear ARB and also have a 23mm Neuspped bar fitted to the front, piece of cake to fit and stops the annoying creak from the "corroded" OE one

I just fitted my R32 FARB with uprated bushes, will let folks know how it feels. Hope it compliments my Whiteline RARB. I am also fitting Audi TT wishbone bushes tomorrow.

My powerflex wishbone bushes were absolutely shot. (8 months old)

Will post pics when car is done.

They seem to be going from anything from £50.00 - £150.00 so if their is a new one up for £150.00 then it sounds good to me :)

Will find out the price and let you know.

cheers for the info, let us know how you get on with the tt bushes, are they the same as the cupra r ones?

fugs, i will pm you.

It was 150 new but exchange, so am not sure they would accept a non r32 one, thats not bad money though, might try the stealer to see what they charge!

A new R32 23mm front ARB are around £65 just for the bar.As long as you have the later style arb clips for the bushes you will only need to buy the bar + 23mm arb bushes.

Did you change the FARB yourself?

If you did, don't suppose you could tell me what's involved. As far as I can see you unbolt the rack from the subframe and support it up, then drop the subframe down, but that's as detailed as I get!

I've solved my creaking now (removed sleeves and fitted OE 17mm bushes), so a bar change isn't a high priority for me any more. But I'd still like to know how it's done out of interest!

I'm getting to know the front suspension very well at the moment! Recently changed discs, pads, drop-links, arb bushes (twice!) & clamps/bolts, ball joints, wishbones and all associated bolts! It's all been pretty easy surprisingly (even the ball joints!). Nice car to work on this.

Powerflex have changed the design on these 'again' and now look more like the superpro ones having more of a domed top rather than a flat one.

I'm thinking of fitting a set of the superpro camber ones which have a offset insert to give upto .75' of camber.

Drove a MK4 golf with TT rack, hubs, wishbones,KW V3,solid top mounts and the camber wishbones and it felt so good.

TT rack is a huge difference.

Hi there, yes i did and i have taken some pics along the way, will post when i get a moment. It is basically what you stated so you are there in your thinking although you will need to replace the bolts when you lower subframe(stretch bolts)

I still have the car up in the air as waiting for a new blueflame sports cat to come.

I also replaced wishbone bushes / steering gaiters cleaned everything, steam cleaned arches, wax oiled them and painted the wishbones/calipers.

Also spotted that I need the shorter ARB links as with my car being quite low and the R32 ARB being thicker , the ARB touches the wishbones.

Anyone know the best place for these??

I am with you on the TT rack. That is my next mod. I tried to find a R32/TT one whilst I was fitting the R32 FARB to save time.
