Octavia VRS Mk1 help

Featured Replies

Can anyone with a MK1 vrs octy with standard suspension and 17inch wheels please help me on the following by measuring the centre of their front wheel arch at the bodywork to the top of the tyre.

Both my fronts measure 5cm and both rears are 4.5cm.

It sounds like a daft request but I'm trying to find out if my

vrs has been lowered or is sitting lower than others.

The springs are showing 4 yellow dots and 1 blue dot, but the garage I've been

to today seem to think it maybe lowered as the wishbones arent sitting horizontal,

they are at angle and that this maybe causing problems for the bushes.

Thanks

mine have the same combination of dots on the springs and my gaps are slightly less than yours (by a few mm...)

Don't think mine's been lowered though.

This got me thinking, as after replacing a broken spring with standard OEM fronts last year (March) having the same 1 Purple, 4 Yellow dots as yours, I've always thought my front seemed to ride a bit higher than before.

Just checked mine on literally brand new tyres, and spacings are 60 mm and 50 mm.

I guess that a few mm difference can be put down to slight variations in exact tyre model, spring manufacture tolerances and age / wear, weight loading on car etc.

Thanks for the measurements.

Does anybody elses wishbones not sit horizontal in their resting position?

As been mentioned the wishbones do not sit perfectly horizontal on the VRS. VRS bushes are generally poor and get worn over time. This is also depended on how the car is driven.

Also it is not uncommon to see these bushes worn or damaged. Just see the threads on here.
