minilite look alike wheels

Featured Replies

got a nice set of wheels to go on the estelle , they fit fine on the rear. But on thr front seem to foul on the hub centre  seems odd as they are meant to be genuine skoda items . Any ideas please;)

Do you mean the opening in the middle of the wheel isnt big enough to go over the lip on the hub?

yep thats exactly it it wil, go on so far but then the hub catches on the whell centre leaving about 5 mm gap

They are designed to fit the mk1 Estelle hub which has a flat front to it. You need to take your hubs off and get them machined to fit. Either that or find some mk1 hubs.

I have the same wheels and had mine machined....I then bought a set of mk1 hubs as well!!!!

superb thank you

will the mk 1 hubs fit directly, if so any one got some for sale

if i go for the machining option i presume that the hubs need to still be a close fit to the wheeel for support , but does this in turn mean that the other set of skoda alloys are then redundant

If you have the hubs machined they will still fit other wheels....mine do. PM sent about hubs.

You just need to open up the central bore in the wheel to clear the step on the hub.

Its quite easy to do by a machine shop using a milling machine and a boring bar.

I've done 2 sets now. It doesn't have to be precise or anything, clearence is fine. The wheel nut tapers will centre them correctly (like they do on the rear hubs) no problem.

I would suggest its more sensible to get your hubs machined......the wheels are not that substantial and removing material is likely to interfere with their strength.

I agree, when i had my Rapid i just knocked out the studs, took most of the lip off with a hacksaw , and then dressed up with an angle grinder. No need to spend money on getting them machined

The amount to remove is minimal, about 3 mm on the bore x about 12mm deep, and if you look at the Apollo 2 alloys fitted to the later models, exactley the same machining is done as standard.

I think even the Apollo alloys as standard are machined to suit vw hubs and then modified for Skud hubs.

Surely the Skoda method is best..... ok, i'll get my coat......:P

All the alloys fitted to Skodas were made for the Skodas alone. After all VW never fitted 13" rims to the rear engine dubs
