No ABS/ASR

Featured Replies

Seems to be no end of fun with my vRS at the moment!

Got the pads and discs changed last week, and now have warning lights. :(

I am getting an intermittant light on for the ABS which sometimes clears itself while driving, then I get both ABS and ASR lit a little later. These will not clear until engine switched off or cleared via VAG COM. The car is interesting with neither ABS or ASR but works ok sometimes so I think the sensor is to blame.

The error that VAG COM reports is:

00285 - abs wheel speed sensor front right (g45): electrical fault in circuit.

My concern is could something have been damaged when changing the discs, I have had the wheel off and checked the wires and sensor and nothing looks damaged or mis-aligned.

The original garage wish to take a look but I am not convinced this is worth while so booked into my local VAG specialist tomorrow, they are quoting £50 for the sensor.

It could be a damaged sensor, or reluctor ring, or indeed the wiring. That said, a week or 2 back I came across someone else with similar symptoms, and the problem was that the sensor with hadn't be routed under the clips properly during reassembly; he clipped it back himself, and it was sorted justlikethat!
