JOM suspension kit question

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've recently installed JOM suspension kit with adjustable height and the rear springs look quite weird to me:

Is it ok for spring to look this way?

Is that photo taken with the car lowered on its wheels, or is the spring still at its free length?

Either way, im 90% sure you need to have space between each coil, by having the lower coils compressed like that is not going to give any travel or comfort, they will just squirm around on each other so i cant see the thinking behind it.

That said, most of my spring knowledge comes from Valve Spring design so i may be missing something when it comes to suspension so i am happy to be corrected.

didnt wanna say aut lol but I think there is too much weight on them? I think there should nbe a small space between them, not sure tho as mine are not designed like that.

The photo has been taken when the car was on its wheels. And the trunk is empty and there were no people in the car when the photo was being taken. So actually I don't have anything (subwoofers etc) in the car which makes it heavier than stock.

In which case i would send a mail to JOM just to check that is correct. To me it looks wrong, but i am quite often mistaken :)

Kind Regards

Just left a request in their web form. Their site is almost all in German, I really hope I posted stuff in the right place (as I don't know German) and they can read English =)

The coils of the spring shouldn't be touching, as has been said. The reason they're all together at the bottom but not the top will be because you've got variable-rate springs. But they're clearly not right for your car. How much space is there between the tyres and the arches?

That's pretty low - I think you might have the wrong springs on...

Yeah, front dont look to bad, just that rear is quite low. I also suspect the incorrect springs have been sent.

Kind Regards

I think the height is the same, because front Arch is larger than the rear one.

I'm thinking they are from a Golf, the rear on an Octavia is a lot heavier than the Golf.

With the coils touching like that defeats the point of having springs really.

So it looks like I need to change rear springs to make stuff right? Would it be OK if I change it to some H&R or Eibach ProLine?

Haven't got any reply from JOM yet... Based on my experience I'd not recommend to set JOM suspension on octavia. :\
