question about "lag"

Featured Replies

being new to turbo cars and skodas / the 1.8 t engine, but not being a complete novice when it comes to engines. ive always built n/a vw 16v engines.

i was reading the front mount thread and im looking at fitting some kind of after market intercooler. but they all seem to increase lag. (i know why thats not the question)

the question is ..............

with these re-maps on the standard ecu's do they, or can they map in a anti-lag.

this would sort out the said problems ?

with my rally background that is the simple answer to the issue.

i know subaru ecu's you can map anti lag onto. has any one tried to do it.

thanks

The lag on the K03s with a FMIC isn't really noticeable, maybe couple of hundred rpm's.

I'd only expect anti-lag to be of any use on the Octy if you were running a massive turbo, not the K03s. And even then, antilag wrecks turbos and manifolds in no time at all. But then rally teams have a whole box of spares ones and can just pop a new one on!

very true.

just a thought with the common mods being big turbos and intercoolers. good point about the exhaust.. it would take a bit of a beating. and with the disposable parts.

Off the wall sounding thought - I know that the Wizards of NOS were playing around with nitrous blowing turbos (exhaust wheel) as an anti-lag system.
