Window Regulator Runner Clip Replacement - Octavia 1998

Featured Replies

Hello and thank you for a great forum. I'm stumped I have the same problem as most with a dropped front window in my Octavia 'S' Reg 1.9TDi - which is now being held up by wood.

I've found the parts I need and happy to give the job a go - looked at a tutorial on the net on how to do it and it seems something that I could have a go at. HOWEVER - the whole of my door inside seems to be a sealed welded unit with no 10mm bolts so that I can take out the whole window mechanism - see picture.

I must be missing a trick somewhere as I don't understand how anyone can replace the window mechanism through the hole at the bottom.

Sorry if I have missed a solution to this I have looked - but I really hope someone can help?

Obviously there is no fitted panel on the early Octy's. It looks like you will have to undo the screws that hold the two window runners and the two screws that hold the motor, the glass should come out as normal and the runners and motor out of the opening at the bottom. You might have to remove the speaker.

Thanks for that - so I figure I have to follow the same type of instructions I've seen online for the Passat type door system, once I wriggle the mechanism out.

Do you know if it's a hard job?

It's not that difficult, I did both fronts on the wifes Fabia last year. The tricky bit was removing the lock mechanism because it's attached to the door carrier. As you don't have the door carrier I don't think you will have to touch the lock

Thanks again.

I've ordered the parts and I'll have a crack at the weekend - fingers crossed it should go ok

Thanks for your help though - really appreciate it.
