No multifunction steering wheel on 2009 Mk2 Facelift Elegance?

Featured Replies

None of the examples I've seen on Autotrader in Elegance spec and in the facelift variant have a multifunction steering wheel, even though this does appear to be present on the lower spec SE.

On the other hand, as far as I'm aware, the SE doesn't appear to get the Elegance's dual-zone climate control and parking sensors.

Is this corrent?

How easy would it be to retrofit a multifunction sterring wheel and climate control to a 2009 SE Octy? Would a Skoda / VAG dealer do this without invalidating the warranty?

Neither the SE or the Elegance get the MFSW. It's a £380/£225 option respectively.

I doubt any dealer will retro-fit a MFSW as there is just too much other stuff needed to make it useful.

The multifunction steering wheels are a factory fit option available on all models except the base S trim. They are either 4 spoke, or in the case of the TSi with 7 speed DSG which includes paddle shifts, they are 3 spoke. The latter are available on Elegance & L& K trims only.

As far as the buttons are concerned, they are available with radio & Maxidot control or plus HFT Bluetooth. All wheels have the same buttons showing except in the case of the non HFT Bluetooth type, the phone buttons are non functional although they appear.

All the multi function steering wheels include the Maxidot itself within the package.

I have been told the MFSW is not available with a manual vRS.

I have been told the MFSW is not available with a manual vRS.

I am referring to the facelifted S, SE, Elegance & L & K models that have been available since earlier this year.

Sorry I didn't realise.

If the MFSW is available on other models with a manual gearbox then why not the vRS?

because the only steering wheel theyve made which is a "sporty" 3 spoke VRS design has the paddles for DSG which you obviously cant stick on a manual. Very short sited of them IMO, why cant they just make some inserts to fill the holes where the paddles would be????

It's only fitted to the L&K as standard. Otherwise it's a factory ordered extra.

In non Bluetooth form only.

Where did you get this info from?

No worries. I have been told I cannot order a manual vRS FL with Bluetooth & MFSW, so I will just have to retro fit them

My elegance as the multi function steering wheel but its an extra. It as to be ordered its in the options list

I bought a MFSW from skodateile and shall be fitting it this weekend. Fingers crossed for success!!

I will be interested to hear how you get on. Don't forget to take some pictures.

Good luck.

That was the main reason for me not choosing another VRS as my next company car, the lack of bluetooth and steering wheel controls on the manual box cars. STUPID !!!!!!

Hope it came with a new (smaller) airbag module

VW do one which should fit OK.

With not being my car I am not going to spend money messing about getting steering wheels changed etc.

Which VW ones would fit? and can the centre be changed for a Skoda one?

Do a search of the forum, and you should find a big thread on it ;)

No it didnt. Why should it? The airbags are the same so my original one fits fine.

Just need to collect the new airbag wiring harness from the dealer this morning and I'll get it all fitted.

Sorry missed out "if you have a VRS" you need a new airbag as the one fitted is too small.

What you get for posting after a loooong day.
