Octavia 2.0 petrol..sparkplug removal

Featured Replies

Hi all..now this might sound like a funny question, but here goes. I want to change the spakplugs on my car. Took the plastic cover off and can see the plug cables. What is the best way to pull the cables off without breaking the leads? Also, the two middle plugs seem very tight...do I have to take anything off the car to gain access to those two, or is it just using an angled plug remover? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Donald

Like any other car before individual coilpacks. Grip the lead by the boot/suppression cap and pull along the line of the plug core. In some cases, they do get a bit sticky.

Can't help about the angle of the plugs, but your car may have a mix of straight and right-angle ended leads?

you can get a flat head screwdriver at the base of the ht caps with one hand while easing the leads off with the other. you dont need to remove anything from the engine other than the top cover. you can access the plugs using a 3/8" drive ratchet,a 6" extension , a universial joint and a 16mm plug socket.on refitting cut a 10" length of garden hose and cut a slit in one end. use the hose to insert the plugs to aviod any chance of cross threading and to aid access. i always put some engine oil on the threads for a smooth insertion (will you stop) finish tighting using the tools to about a half a turn after touching home.
