Warning light just came on! No Manual, HELP!!!

Featured Replies

Hi all

I am hoping someone can help me with my dilemma. All of a sudden a warning light has lit up on the speedo clock which obviously means something is wrong! But unfortunately my car did not come with an owners manual or service record (I bought the car from a large "supermarket type" garage in Darlaston, Birmingham).

Any way here is the dashboard before starting!

And here it is after starting the engine!

The car is a 52 plate and is the Octavia Elegance 2.0l 16v version.

Please help if you can. Many thanks, Paul

that is the engine management light... ecu

will need a diagnostics check done to see what problem is.

Darlaston is a good way from Birmingham :)

Have a look at this thread.

Hi and thanks for your replies! Brake lights are working! Darlaston is only a few miles from B/ham as it's just by Wednesbury from J9 of the M6!!;)

Kind regards

Ok, it's not the brake light switch then (common issue). VCDS job then; have a look at the VAGCom forum for someone near you who'll do it for a few beer tokens.

Hi cjb I am in sunny Great Barr

Hi DGW many thanks for the link mate

Thanks for all your help guys. I had my car booked in this afternoon at Kings Heath (Where I believe ironically it was first registered!) and the strangest thing happened! the warning light went out on it's own accord :holmes: can you believe that. So I didn't need to go in the end! I will be keeping an eye out for it in future though.

Kind regards

Paul

Hi cjb

Thanks for the kind offer mate. As of yet the car does seem to be working perfectly well again so I will put it down to a "glitch!". I will PM you if I need to get the car scanned though in the future mate.

Cheers, Paul
