Diesel Glow Plugs warning light

Featured Replies

Today whilst driving, i had a problem sticking the car into 3rd gear. it was going in but felt like like i was applying 5th as there was hardly and acceleration at around 30mph. Then the glow plug warning light started flashing and continued untill i switched off engine. when i restarted it, and took it for a spin, everything was fine.

im going to ring garage tomorrow morning but do you think ive anything to worry about

Sounds like the car has gone into "limp home" mode due to an error code on the computer. I used to get this on my Seat Toledo TDI, sometimes without even the warning light coming on. You need to get the error code read by a garage or someone with VAGCOM software, fault could be anything.

I never got to the bottom of my problem and part ex'd the car with it.

yeah, the handbook said it would be the engine management system taking over.

i got two problems first engine glow light was showing during driving and second thing my car doesnt go beyod 70 mph , could anyone please guide and help me out much appreciated

Could be an overboost error (sometimes from sticky vanes on the turbo). Pleanty of threads on here describing the problem (and pssible solutions). Try a search on "vanes" and see what you think.

Could be DPF or brake light switch - really need to look at the fault codes stored on the ECU to see what happened (you will need Vagcom, VCDS or the dealer software tool to access them)

I have just had that with my car same light & same symtoms.

when I read the code it was the engine speed sensor,

1 Fault Found:

16706 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28): No Signal

P0322 - 000 - -

Freeze Frame:

RPM: 399 /min

Torque: 170.0 Nm
