Sims 3

I almist feel ashamed for admitting that I have this game but hey ho!

Installed it the other day and although the game is pretty cool and they have added a few nice little bits here and there the thing that is really letting it down for me is how the game runs!

I mean the system requirement are:

FOR WINDOWS XP

  • 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
  • Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
  • At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games

FOR WINDOWS VISTA

  • 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  • 1.5 GB RAM
  • 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1
  • At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games

For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least:

  • Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above
  • 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
  • 0.5 GB additional RAM

They are pretty low tbh by todays standards but it runs like a bag of spanners... it will run at 60fps (vertical sync on) and as soon as I pan around or zoom in and out it drops to 15-20fps for a few seconds and stutters around etc. Not good.

I have a Q6600 CPU, 4GB Ram and an 8800GTX btw.

Anyone else playing it?

phil

Why be ashamed? The sims is an awesome game! :)

What settings are you using? Resolution etc?

I'm running it at 1680x1050 and everything full... will try reducing some of the settings as it may be a problem with running at certain settings etc.
