Driver side mirror LED

Featured Replies

The driver side mirror LED was flickering for a comple of months before it stopped working. First things first, there is no water in the footwells and all interior lights are working including the footwell lights, handle LEDs etc.

Any ideas what this could be and how the LED is replaced?

Have you checked behind the light panel on the roof?. Where the map light and red leds are?. There is a connector here for the leds in the mirrors.

Looking for a red/blue wire and brown wire. changes from blue and black in the mirror to the red/blue and brown, Also changes to blue/grey.

wiring is a mess and vag should be shot.

I suspect it has nothing to do with water ingression and is just the LED unit that has failed, I have already had to replace one on my 54 plate Superb.

Its an easy job, If I remember rightly all you have to do is simply remove the mirror casing upwards, it's clipped into position and once you have this out, you remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the wing mirror and you will then be able to remove the LED lamp and the small casing that wraps around the mirror, unplugging the wiring harness in the process. refitting is the reverse.

Be warned for a shock though, even though you can get an LED torch for free with 12 litres of deisel at your local garage you wont be surprised to hear that at Skoda more or less the same LED's in a bit of trim cost a dam site more, can't remember how much but i'm sure I didnt get much change for £50!
