i`ve just bought my first octavia tdi to use as a taxi after being a vauxhall vectra man for over 13 years ( still own a few and probably buying another in the next month but giving the octavia a go ) anyway it`s a 58 plate 1.9 tdi pd classic but a mk1 octy not mk 2 and basically i find the car lacking a bit in the style dept as i`m used to sri vectra`s etc with alloys,spoilers and the like

the advice i`m am after if the members here would be so kind is what size alloys would be best for it to upgrade from 15" steelies,now i`m thinking genuine skoda alloys here i.e vrs spiders etc but i don`t want tyre cost to be too much as i use alot :thumbdwn: so are 16" alloys cheaper to buy tyres for than 17" ? and what size tyres should the various styles of skoda alloys be running ? also is ride comfort affected between the sizes ?

any photos of the various styles of skoda alloys available would be great if you could add them here with the name of the alloy to help me decide and find what would be best for my car

also hoping to add a vrs rear spoiler to the car to help it`s looks

As a general rule, I'e always found 16" tyres to be either the same price, or more expensive than 17" tyres. The VRS have 17" standard, so I'd say 17's, but 18's are easily possible.

Oh, and remember, depending on the offset and PCD, most Audi/VW/Seat wheels will also fit! So lots of decent choice out there!

although i thought vrs spiders also came in 16" on mk1 estates after having a bit of a search round the forums,isn`t this the case :confused:

Yep I believe the VRS estate had 16" as did the very early VRS hatch, but the hatch adopted 17" wheels not long after.

Yep, Octy vRS estates have 16" wheels. Or mine does anyway, which gets a big "Boo" from me because I'd like to have swapped the 17's over to my Fabia!

They look like Audi RS6 Replicas. Most likely 18".

i came across that car on autotrader and really liked it`s wheels didn`t think they were stock skoda wheels though hence my question,off for a nosey on ebay to see if any are for sale and more idea`s

have saw them in 18" & 19" sizes but i feel they are a bit too large to be cost effective tyre wise for me with the intended use of my car

Yep, those are the puppies!

Cost effectiveness wise, 225/45/17 is where it's at. 205/50/17 is the "official" size for vRS spiders, but this is more expensive.
