need new undertray

Featured Replies

hi i need a new undertray for my 2001 octavia estate how much should it cost me? chatham skoda quoted me £180

thanks

Sounds about right, I opted for some bodging together and a few extra self tappers into a few extra metal clips my dad had laying around. It's not perfect but it's not hanging down onto the floor anymore and cost about £2. I guess it depends how good you want it to be. I just wanted to stop it scraping on the floor every time I hit a slight bump in the road. I would have removed it but I believe it provides a small amount of sound deadening and as I have a diesel I need all the help I can get with reducing noise.

I've never had one! It has been mysteriously absent from new.

Mine doesn't have one.

Mike at IP says he can't remember working on a car that still had one...

Some had them out of factory some didn't

HTH

Mine has 2 side covers and nothing in the middle.

Oh and a few zip ties that weren't there from new :)

Do you mean the plastic thing under the engine? Last time I got a price for this from a dealer it was about £25

Mine has never had the central undertray, but then it's not a diesel.

Just the two side splash guards that are about £25-30 each (I listed them in the parts sticky), and the short front splash guard.

Remove your undertray and see how it affects the noise, because £180 is a complete rip off for such a simple crappy part!

I seem to remember being told that the steel sump guard was c200? sure they aren't confusing the plastic option with the steel option?

bit of both here really isnt it i use to have one but my driveway decided one morning to rip it off as i went to work didnt replace it seems to work fine easier to work under with out having to remove them every time

also not a diesel so cars not too loud

It appears that bodging the tray is not too good an idea. Mine has started to come off again. In fairness, the bit I bodged is still holding strong and its now the back part thats falling off.
