Vrs 2.0 TFSI Cambelt

Featured Replies

Hello

Am I correct ion thinking that the advice is that the cambelt on the petrol is changed at 100k miles. is there also an age advisory. i,e even if you have only done 20k if it's taken 5 years the belt also needs doing.

Thanks

In theory according to ELSA which is the workshop manual system the Skoda network adhere to the belt is indeed 100k and there is no time interval.

Thanks

Interested, as looking at 2.0Ts at the moment. That's what the manual says, but what would your advice be Lummox? Would you change it after X years, regardless of mileage?

I thought revised advice was 4 years or 40,000 miles !!!

Thats certainly what I was going to do!

40,000? I hope not.

Is that really possible?

Thanks

Remember we are talking MKII, not MKI :)

I think if Ross thought the period was too long, he would of stated that :)

As our car is 4 years old next year and we have extended the warranty so have to stick with Skoda reccomendations.

I have also done a lot of net resaearch - common opinion is 4 years for the TFSI range of Mileages seems to be 60K in a Golf GTI 75K in an Audi both reduced from 100K plus as in the service book. Most importantly its at a 4 year interval.

I will change it next year - rather that than having it shred with dire consequences. Unless i can have as many pointers to indicate 100,000 miles is safe, as there are that it should be 4 years! We only do 8-10K per year so for us 4 years = 40K
