Does anyone have Dubmeister metal plates and plastic surrounds on their Skoda?

If so, how the hell do the plates fit in the surrounds?!

Is there a nack to it that I'm missing?

Are the surrounds the type that hinge down at the bottom?

I've got a pic somewhere - will try to dig it out

My plate surround is from Prague, so it fits the Dubmeister steel plate in fine, just pressure and the clips at the top secure it in.

that's the type Andy, It just seems a hell of a squuze and I don't want to ruin my new plates.

It looks like the black band should dissapear underneath the lip if you get me

The bottom section hinges down about 180 degrees - quite a tight snap in/out connection though.

Once its down you can slide the top of the plate into the slot (up to the black band if you have one) and then pivot up the hinged section to clamp the bottom.

I've tried that... Maybe not hard enough!

Changed my plates for it's MOT with no problemo

I had exact same problem. Just could not work out how they could possibly clip in..

I have a Polish neighbour he suggested getting a small towel soaked in really hot water

and placing on the clips first, this I did and the clips moved just enough for the aluminium plates to slip in without any damage..
