Octavia II TDI 110 Limp home at tickover

Featured Replies

I have a Octavia II which on three occasions has gone into limp home at fast tickover 1200 RPM ish. gives you 35 mph in top gear on flat!! Very economical but not fun!! 1st time after leaving car for 2 hrs it was OK until next longish run 40 miles on motorway.

Diagnostic said throttle pedal fault - this was changed after second time. It then reoccurred, diagnostic again said throttle pedal faulty but this time diagnostic tool could see throttle value changing when you pressed pedal even though revs did not move from 1200 rpm.

Clearing error message brought rpm back to normal tickover but pressing throttle brought it back into error condition.

When fully cool it runs fine - but limping back from afar at 1200 rpm is no fun - anyone with a good idea even garage staff are scratching their heads!!

Golf 5 TDI have modified throttle pedals as the potentiometer was going wobbly.....

Octy 2 same pedal.
