PD 130 temp guage

Featured Replies

Ive just got hold of a Pd130 with a six speed box, but ive got one issue with the temp guage in the car!

It warms up and goes to vertical, the normal position for VAG cars but ocasionally it will drop to a 1/4 then down below 50 and then back to 90 and then to 50! its all over the place.

the car its self is ok as is the coolant, just wondered what it could be?

Coolant sender gone?

Just wondered if there is any common problems that could cause this which could be a quick fix!

Cheers

Dan

What's the fuel economy like? I think there are 2 main possibilities, and which it is depends on the fuel economy, odd as that may sound.

Its not as good as the 110 tdi ive got but id say it does 45MPG!

Why what were you thinking?

Is this going to be expensive lol

I mean the other car(110TDI) does about 50-55 normally but i dont think this one is that bad on fuel, or what should a PD130 do, MPG wise?

Coolant temp sensor ;)

Do a search for CTS very common

:iagree: - it's off slightly, so it's almost cetainly the temp sensor.

sorry ment more than likley

No criticism Doc, but this is what the "edit" button is for. :)

Thing is now the fuel consumption figures have been mentioned, what does a PD 130 do, because it no where near as good as my 110TDi, i know its got more power but i thought it would be better than what it is.

Anyone know what the conbined figure is?

And Skoda said they change a lot temp sensor on these cars!

My L&K 130 does 45mpg (actual) all day long for mixed mostly urban driving when not trying to be economical.

You can get it up to 50mpg by driving carefully, more on a long steady trip.

Not as economical as the 110, but the 130 wastes the 110 (it may only have 20bhp more but it has shed loads more torque).

Cheers Kandy, so mines not too far off the mark then and with the temp sesor changed it should cure the problem and put the fuel economy up a little!

And as for performance my 110 wastes VRS Fabias and it feels a lot more pokey than the 130!

Mind you it has had the ecu remapped!

Just wondering if its worth doing the 130?

remapping the 130 is ace, I speak from experience, oh check out my sig for my average mpg ;)

my pd130 also suffered from the temp sensor problem where it would go upto normal running temperature then sink and come back up again.

As above, if you like a bit more poke, obviously the 130 (as per fabia vrs) responds very nicely to a remap & I think all the Octavias have the supposedly better Garett (sp) turbo too.

I think it probably is a temp sender although Skoda has just given me the wrong part, ill have to wait till they order in the correct one!
