Replacing Elecrice Window Switched

Featured Replies

Does anyone know how to replace the driver's side electric window switches on an Octy 2? The paint has flaked off of mine, so I've ordered a new set and just need to fit them. Is it an easy job to do?

Thanks in advance.

Steve.

I'm pretty sure I saw instructions on this somewhere in this forum but in relation to upgrading the speakers in the doors. I'm pretty sure the switches used to just pop out of their mountings in the Octavia I, but the II uses different switches.

This is the bank of 4?

I'll see if I can't find a picture later, but basically you need to pop the cover off and then take it out, put the new switches in place of the old lot and push the cover back on.

I can't for the life of me remember if there are screws required out to do this or not.

Yes, it's the bank of 4. It all looks very well put together. I can't see how it comes apart. I'm hoping the switch covers may just pop off as there's nothing actually wrong with the switches, it's just cosmetic.

The dealer said it was easy to replace the switch bank. I'm picking it up tomorrow, so I'll see if I can get anything out of them. No one likes doing anything for nothing these days - perhaps I'll hint at buying a new car or something. ;)

Thanks for all the replies so far.

You literally just pull it upwards - it's not held by anything other than clips. Start at the back end. You can probably slide in something from the back to start the levering off if that helps.

Can I ask how much the replacement switch was? The paint is flaking off mine too and might consider replacing it at the right price..

Thanks for that, I'll have a bash over the weekend, I just want the car to look nice before I sell it - it's the only part of the interior that's showing any sign of wear, so needs to be done.

It was £30, which I thought was quite reasonable considering.
