New map today - graph attached

Featured Replies

Had a drive over to Leeds today to RS Tuning. I already had a map on but wasn't too keen on the setup, so thought I'd take the plunge and let Paul work his magic. The map I had on only made 191bhp, so the improvement is impressive to say the least.

Paul and his assistant - forgot to ask his name:O - were very friendly and put up with my lack of understanding and daft questions. As people have said before, Paul wanted to make sure and double check everything and only stopped when he was happy. A quick trip round the block confirmed the new map was worth every penny and the drive home to Scarborough was most entertaining.:D

Big thanks to Paul and if you're thinking of using him, then I would say do it!

The green line is a standard map Paul put on as a benchmark. Also, the car is standard with absolutely no other power mods. A couple of times the car made 219.6 and 219.3, but the heat soak affected the final few runs - damn that small SMIC.

p.s. His R26R parked outside was absolutely amazing - running 275bhp or something close I think.

Good results on what should be an accurate RR, nice one.

That must be a decent map.Great result mate:thumbup::thumbup:

nice well done expect your fuel bills to be higher for the next few weeks while you enjoy it lol :D

one thing i would ask is why is the torque so peaky ??? could he not smooth that a bit better as its all there then down hill all the way???

only heard good things so i guess he did what he could:thumbup:

Paul did say that my car produced loads of torque for some reason. He worked on the car for at least an hour and a half and that was the result. I admit it looks peaky, but on the road it feels fine and is way quicker than the previous map. It certainly worried the 6 series convertible I followed for about 15 miles over the Yorkshire Wolds this afternoon.

Good results.

How much did the map cost including the rollingr road and does he use VAG.COM before and after to look for any faults?

My graph looked a bit up and down on these rollers too but drove perfectly smoothly on the road.

If I decide to get my next car mapped I will definately be making the effort to take it to a proper tuner rather than just paying someone £400 to slap a generic Revo map on. My car drives pretty much perfectly but I'm always left thinking if more was possible.

Those results look excellent.

It was 345 plus vat. Paul does have all the latest software and is very thorough.

Having done both, I'd agree with you there. I always had a niggling doubt that the generic map could be causing damage or be out of sync with my car. It turned out that the boost on the generic map was running at a tad under 1.4 which seemed a little high. It is now nearer to 1.2 to preserve my clutch. Having said that though, the generic map worked well enough, it just wasn't as good as the new one.

Hearing some of the horror stories about some generic maps out there, I was lucky with mine as it didn't cause any issues, it just needed smoothing out.

Yeah the torque looks a bit odd on it... on the standard map it's kicking out over 190ft/lbs torque (standard is 175) but only 176bhp. Must just be a quirk of the car!

A quirk is right I think. I reckon that's why I had issues with the generic map. The chap who put it on was confused by the boost worries I had as he said others were using it with no problems.

What boost are others producing after a remap?
