Finally, good handling is restored to the mongrel

Featured Replies

I am now running Gary's (oilburninut) old KW coilovers. :D The old fronts had about an inch or so of travel with little to no damping, which was causing me all kinds of issues at times, especially at "good speed" on corners. Springs alone does not make good suspension. :D

Found out my rears were fine, but swapped the dampers anyway. First proper test is Hullavington next Friday. Hoping me rubbing the front wheels on the arches is a thing of the past.

Also, has anyone ever had dampers refurbed by KW? I've emailed them twice with no response! :rotz:

I think it will cost just as much to do a refurb as would buying new ones. Seems to be the case with anything electrical or mechanical these days.

So how long..ish did they last milage wise? I know you bought them second hand.

I have a contact which will rebuild them for you Jason.

Well known in the VAG racing scene :)

Interested. :)

The history of my old coilovers is unknown but it seems the fronts clearly don't last as long as the back (A lot more work to do I guess?) I put about 30,000+ miles on them, maybe 40k as I don't remember when they were fitted. But I think I was the 3rd fabia to use them too. :D
