Engine vibration on new CR170 TDI VRS

Featured Replies

Afternoon All,

Don't know if anyone can help me, I took delivery of a new VRS back in March with the new CR170 TDi engine. All was well until I covered 1500 miles where an engine vibration developed which can be felt through the steering wheel, gear shifter and pedals! It can be felt when driving or stationary at pretty much any rev range although its worse between 2000 - 2500rpm. Had it back to the dealers a couple of times and had the usual fob off, apparently its 'normal' and a 'characteristic' or the car! Talking to the head tech it seems that all CR170 engines do it and I sat in another brand new one which had exactly the same vibration - doh!

Talking to a VW dealer it appears that the CR170 engine has be delayed in the new VW's and Audi's due to 'issues' with vibration (I smell something somewhere) however it seems Skoda have gone ahead with it.

So basically my question is, has anyone else got the same problem and have you had any more joy with your dealer?

Cheers.
