Fabia 3 maxidots

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I am still in the process of saving for my new-generation Fabia (will get it second-hand but am still around £5000 short) but have been unsure as to wether to get a Fabia 2 (which has an LCD display with green backlights instead of a maxidot display) or a Fabia 3 (which does have the maxidot display).

I may be on the verge of solving that question after seeing this photo.....

..... which looks great IMO. Does anyone know if the maxidot display on a Fabia 3 turns out like that when you turn the headlight switch? If it does then the Fabia 2 or Fabia 3 debate is settled and a Fabia 3 will be my target!

Cheers.

Having been driving and owning cars for 40 years it has taken me a long time to learn one lesson? It is always go for the top of the range, it is always worth it in the long run.

I have a 1.9 td 3 super car Maxi dot a nice feature , air con good cruise nice at times engine is great found a demo car big saving on new, a bit sad at the moment as a woman in supermarket car park didn't like it as much as me as reversed into me ,will need a new wing possibility of a new bumper ,she said sorry didn't see then why are you so angry ?, easy to say when you had no damage to her mpv , I let Mrs P look after the paper work

Commiserations about the damage caused by that b**t. Makes you wonder if she should have been driving.

Do you get the blue backing on your maxidot when driving with headlights on? Or does that only apply to the Roomster?

Thats just the photo Dave, it's in white, no blue background. The maxidot on the Roomster / Fabia mk2 is Black background, white "dots", it does look much cooler than an LCD though

Oh. Wonder why it came out like that then? The same user has another photo.....

..... that was probably taken in the daytime and made me wonder if putting the headlights on made the difference. Headlights off, no blue backing on the maxidot either on that second photo link (the one in this message). A bit confusing! ;)

Tiz just an illusion, it is backlit and the picture is just showing a bit of light leaking out. Speaking after looking at it in the vroomster for the last 13 months :)

This is mine... dials light up green. the maxidot and trip meter above it lights up in white. the dial pointers also light up in white like the maxidot.

I think the normal green lcd dashes have the dial pointers light up in green too... not sure though

The top part of the maxidot, as you can see is separate from the bottom part (it's split in a 1:2 ratio). This is because the top part may light up in amber or red when it shows warnings. I got the "please refuel" warning and it lights up in amber. If you get a crucial warning such as oil pressure for instance, it lights up in red. Hopefully it never lights up in red that is ;) Otherwise, during normal operation, the top part displays radio information.
