Copying Sky + to DVD recorder

Featured Replies

Hello knowledgeable people, I bought a iomega Multi media Hard drive the other day and it would not copy over from Sky +. All I recorded was what I was watching in very bad quality and 4:3. I have purchased a Sony RDRGX380B DVD Recorder with HDMI Connection. I am going to connect the scart from sky+ to DVD and the DVD to TV.

This is because I need to record things during the week and then dump them over the weekend and then watch them the following week.

As I don’t want to p1ss about for hours again like I did with the HDD when I get this machine any tips?

Cheers guys

IIRC the quality is purposely poor. And movies wont work as the sky box supports some sort of DRM from the sky movie channels.

How much are you recording that you need to dump to DVD? The box should store 40-80 hours (depending on age), and you can avoid accidental deleting by pushing the blue button when a recording (done or planned- inc series link)

Thanks for the response gadgetman

The thing is that I have a place in the country that we have been living in full time, now we only use it at weekends and want to record some programmes and then bring them to the city to view during the week, this includes movies. I have bought the recorder so hopefully will be able to test it this weekend. Are you saying that the output of the box is poor? bloody sky! I dont want to replicate my setup I have in the country in the city as it would cost a lot of money. I cant even just bring the box to the city as you need the signal for playback.

I record reguarly from my Sky+HD, using a SD Sony DVD recorder, and i've not got any complaints about the quality.
