Oh! No Not Another One About Tyres

Featured Replies

I know that there are a lot of threads regarding tyres for a petrol Octavia 2 VRS on this site and I have read most, if not all, of them on more than one occasion but once I decide on which breed of tyre I am going to go for, I find some threads say that they have had those on their Octy and wouldn’t put them anywhere near it again so I then decide that is not the tyre to go for and start to look again.

I have now found a tyre fitting facility, local to me, that will fit tyres that I have provided myself so I am not really stuck to only a couple of makes.

Not really want a very soft tyre for out and out performance as only really drive the car hard on occasions but want some thing that does work for when I do, but fairly good on wear rate.

In short, I have narrowed my choice down to 4 makes, and these are:-

1) Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta

2) Avon ZZ3

3) Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3

4) Falken FK452

Once again, your comments and recommendations would be most appreciated to help me make up my mind. :(

I have Vredestein SporTrac3s on the wifes Furby vRS and my Toledo TDI 110 and wouldn't change away from them. Their wet grip is outstanding and the dry grip is amazing as well. Not as hardwearing as the Michelins that were one before but definitely not bad.

Noise is up slightly but for the significant increases in grip I can cope with that. :D

One of the owners of SCN has Ultrac Sessantas on his 300BHP Cupra and 19" rims and raves about them

My vote is Vredestein.

I have just put toyo proxes t1 r's on my vrs and they are way better than the conti sport contact 2's i had. I can get much more power down in the wet and they are much quieter. Recommended.

Sadly can't comment on the other three, but as you'll perhaps have already read I'm completely satisfied with my Goodyears. They're way better than Conti and -above all - than acclaimed Pirelli PZero Rosso. I have 18" rims and drive for many km/day regardless of weather. They do deliver.

HTH

I too have just had 4 Toyo T1-R's fitted....18 inch. Love them, yet to get them spinning, and that's on damp road. Dunlops they replaced would spin up in the dry...!

Worth a look.
