MPG again!

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking that I might see an improvement in mpg in my 09 L&K 2.0 dsg say post 10k miles.About 5k now and consumption is pretty dire.Very poor in traffic(20-30) and to get 40-45 showing on long m-way runs is a struggle.

My previous two octys were very frugal;one was 1.9 admittedly.

Cheers.D.:(

Not sure if yours is a diesel?

My recent experience of both petrol and diesel is that if you get near to the combined figure overall, be grateful.

My manual Octavia FL Elegance 2l diesel (17" wheels) has got 47mpg for the first tankful- that was mixed commuting, motorway at 70mph and A roads to the coast. On a motorway cruise the computer suggested low 40s per gallon.Heading sarf on a long trip today so watch this space. Still under 1000miles on the clock.

Is that genuine or trip computer MPG?

If it's genuine then 47mpg on a car that's no run in and only claims 50 is good going.

My 06 2.0TDI typically did an indicated 53mpg on a tankfull which was a genuine 50 - that's a mixture of town and motorway driving.

It did improve by a reasonable amount in the first 10k miles.

As my siggy says 44 MPG with my 1.9 TDI DSG around town, but not much more on the motorway . I brim the tank from the same fuel pump to get my MPG. I'm made up with it  Car has done 15.5k

I had exactly the same experience with mine (Feb 2008 model) and after 16k I never got anywhere near the 500 miles from a tank I used to get from my 05 manual.

Just swapped for an LE CR hatch and the difference is huge already. After only 600 miles the car is into the 50mpg mark on a work run(Av over the 600 miles is 44mpg). The L&K was about 41 after 16k, and to get 50mpg I had to stay at a constant 50mph which was rubbish.

Sorry, I know it wasn't what you wanted to hear really but there you go, I fell for the b*ll about DSG as well.

Auto's always have low MPGs.

Reason why I wouldnt have a DSG.
