Specing long life oil for fixed service

Featured Replies

Given I do lots of short journeys for my job, and that the skoda site specs VW 504 00

for the 2ltr petrol on both flexible and fixed service. Is it worth asking for this to be used when I order my car or just let them do whatever?

I noticed on the shell site they list two grades that meet 502 00 and only one that does 504 00. Any views on this? Do Skoda dealers actually use shell as i noticed the sticker on the engine bay in the show room. I run my Mazda on Shell.

507 is longlife ;)

Hi there. My annual mileage is 5k a year. Short runs would be 5 miles to work, around 6-8 miles a few times a week to a couple of sites. All around my local borough. Then normally some 30 mile runs at weekends for fishing.

Then you shouldnt be on variable as you are likely to cause damage.

For short journeys, and less than 9K/year you should be on fixed servicing as per VW guidelines.

I'm not on variable, i've not ordered the car yet!

That's what the dealer asked me.

That's what the dealer asked me.

Maybe they meant "Do you want to be on fixed or variable service regime?"
