Goodridge braided hose install problem

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I have purchased the following item Skoda Fabia (Excl. VRS Goodridge Braided Brake Hose Kit on eBay (end time 10-Aug-09 21:11:56 BST) few days ago and already installed successfully the front ones. It is the rear hoses where I have a problem. They seem that they simply don't match the existing ones. you can have a look at the photos below to see the difference.

You can see the screw on the caliper. Well on the new hose there is nowhere to get this screw through!! My car is a 2001 1.4 16v 101hp fabia with 232x9mm solid disks on the rear. Any help guys would be great!

Don't they go between the body and rear beam?

Follow the metal brake pipe away from the caliper and see what is on the end of it.

You do realise that the hoses that you have take off are just the same but without the shiny braiding don't you?

The hoses on these cars are not rubber ones like on older cars, they are PTFE lined hoses just the same as inside the Goodrich ones.

That's where they are on mine..

I'll try it tomorrow to see if I get anywhere. So you are saying that I shouldn't havbe bought them? Are they a total waste of money?

They look nicer than the standard ones, but I doubt that you will feel any difference over the standard hoses, although you will have put fresh brake fluid in which might make the brakes feel a little firmer.

They are a worthwhile upgrade on cars with rubber type flexible hoses as they dont expand when the pressure inside increases, but I don't really see any benefit on cars which already have PTFE lined ones as standard.

Thanks for the advice mate. I didn't know that technical stuff. I'll try your advice on following the brake line.

I have got exactly same problem. It seems that mentioned brake hose kit is designed for some drum brakes skodas or so. There suppose to be almost same brake hose like on front wheels. Unfortunatelly, you get just 17cm long hose with both ends fit to standart brake lines which are not in there on one end.

there suppose to be a hose 30cm long or so with banjo on one end and fitting for brake line on an other end.

I have tried to contact Goodridge, no reply so far.

Yes, they do huge difference. how can you doubt there is no difference if standart hose is just rubber rubbish with some canvas like braid :-) PTFE inner tube is standart for all hoses for over 10 years man. outer casing/brading is what holds pressure. what a joke. standart hose expand everytime you slam the brake pedal hard. unless, you drive like women, you won't see any difference.
