ticking noise from dash (superb V6)

Featured Replies

Hi , my superb has a ticking noise coming from the centre dash area and to be honest it may be the cause of me selling the car , i have some other issues but this one is driving me daft , the noise sounds like an intermittant grandfather clock , very loud and not attribuatible to anything specific , recirculating switch on and off makes no diference and neither does the fan speed/climate/auto settings ,hot or cold it doesnt matter although it doesnt start right after moving off it takes a mile or so,if i press the centre console at either side when the car is not moving it makes the ticking noise , this is at the ashtray area ,could this be a skoda version of a ford/peugeot rattle? whats in there that could be loose or rubbing? thanks for any help , also my interior roof lights dont work with the doors but do with the manual switches ,all others do except the under mirror ones no damp under carpets but annoying none the less, many thanks if anyone can shed some light sorry didnt mean that

yeah mine does the same, not exactly a granfather clock more like someone has lost a watch in the dashboard.. sorry dont know what it is or how to fix. just letting u know ur not alone...

I have same "problem" but i think it is normal

Get the ventilation system air flap synchronisation checked with VAGCOM. If the flap position isn't where the transducer thinks it is, the motors keep trying to move them. Hope the drive gears are OK - it's an expensive job getting in there.

rotodiesel.

I can't say for sure, but I had this creacking noise which was deffo something to do with the ventilation system, from what you say I'd guess you have a blower motor running at the same speed all the time, assuming there's one on each vent circuit rather than just one unit, like I say I'm not sure which system is in the Sup's, or as Roto says you have a flap that can't make it's mind up, only solution that's non cost I can suggest is to take the battery off overnight and hope the electronics clear themselves and it defaults back to no user settings mode until you tell it how hot or cold.

Hi all thanks for the replys , i went on a 1600 mile tour of scotland over the last two weeks and was worried the ticking would drive me dafter than i normally am, i sprayed wd-40 from the straw round the ashtray , wood trim, gear gaiter area , i fact everywhere i thought it was coming from , guess what? after a day and 170 miles , no tick -superb !!!! just home , no noises on the trip and no issues either, keather seats as comfy as ant car i have sat in m masses of room , fit and finish is wonderfull and handling great ,performance from the V6 swift and effottless and i worried a few so called fast cars ,fuel consumption according to the computer was 34.8 mpg so happy days all round many thanks all and i had the lights fixed at the auto electricians , he said i need a new courtesy box as damp had got into it , he resoldered a couple of wires and the dimmer interior doesnt work or the lights on the outside mirrors but everything else does so that will do it for me ,cheaper than a new box and programming to the car and it only cost £30 , great car in fact superb!!
