Featured Replies

Just ordered myself some new dampers and springs for my octy!

Spax vsx lowering it 30mm.

Anybody had any experience of these, they have very good reviews and i'm hoping my handling will be grately improved!

Will post some pics when i've fitted them!

hi mate,

its difficult to find much info here on spax as most of us on here tend to go the tried and tested route of kw/weitec.

I tried too, even on the vw forums there isnt loads of info, I nearly bought the spax rsxs but because weitec coilovers are on offer i ended up going for those in the end.

Spax were not great a few yrs ago, but they have upped their game and i spoke to 2 tuners lately who i trust who both said they had fitted spax stuff to golfs and the owners were more than happy without any issue.

So enjoy your new buy, they will def be better than standard stuff thats for sure, it looks quite good....nitrogen filled shocks!!! might be worth doing your top mounts whilsts you are changing bits if they are worn and also checking all your other bushes at the same time incase they are worn too!!!

I have a classic Opel Manta on Spax suspension and Find it Brilliant.

You've decided to take the plunge then. Hope my pics helped. I can't comment on how it will ride on the spax but they do look alot better for being that bit lower, almost merc e-class looking :D

One word of warning, I notice you have the tdi 110, I have the tdi 130 and quite often scrape the undertray on speed bumps and catch the front bumper on kerbs when parking or even steep driveways, so take it easy for a while and you'll soon get to learn what clearance you have.

Be interested to here your review after fitting, as sweedish stated not a lot of info out there of these spax kits fitted to Octys.

Hi mate no worries. Thanks for the comments. Weitecs been on around 5 months now and still loving them. I come from Koni FSD's with H&R springs that are a very good set up. I wanted a firm ride and expected the ride to be a little more harsher than standard or even the FSD's. Even wound down to -20mm the weitecs are very good and the tightness on the steering and cornering is brilliant. As my car is now tuned with FARB and RARB and all bushes done the weitecs have really complimented the cars handling. So overall not too harsh at all, especially if you don't lower as much as I have. 25mm rear and 20mm front.

Hi all

Sorry to jump on the bandwagon but I have a similar question.

Our main car is an octy elegence combi which does all the family duties.

I picked up a 1998 glx tdi which I will be using as a runaround.

It needs new suspension and I'm thinking of a cheap and cheerful kit from ebay as I'm on a tight budget as I've been made redundant recently:(

Sorry for my attempt to form a link!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

We've just started doing Spax so have only sold a very few number of kits but the response seems to be really positive. They do tend to be quite a stiff setup but road holding is suppose to be really good.

Ive had spax adjustable shocks on my car for nearly a year now! and i can only give good comments :) if you want to firm up the dampers for a track day and then back down for road use its so easy! i use mine with vogtland springs and they work well together
