Thats me back from Germany.. (a few good things & a few bad things!)

Featured Replies

I've just come back this evening from a 10 day holiday in Germany with my VRS.

I went over with my wife & 2 girls - the boot was packet to bursting along with a 415L roofbox which was bulginf with how much stuff we had in it. Went over on the ferry from newcastle to Amsterdam. Over 19hrs on the boat - which was fine as we took the late ferry and slept most of the way.

Had a good few days with my baby sister who is expecting her 2nd child in November - so we just hung about with her and had a relaxing time over there. Plan was to go to the Ring and have a few laps. But things didnt go to plan that way - so we had to cancel - oh well gives me another excuse to go and see my sister next year.

Overall the VRS did pretty well with its 1000 mile round trip. It handled a 135mph run on the unrestricted section of the autoban - to then be flashed to move over by a BMW 330i :( And it averaged 45.1mpg

Now the bad things:-

A/C packed up on the ferry over - had A/C when i parked it up on the ferry. No A/C when we got to Germany!!

Interior courtecy light stopped working

Heater only blows hot air

Central brake light and d/s stopped working

Very Smokey trying to accelerate in 4th, 5th & 6th

Brakes are now squeezing

Front suspension rattle is back

Had a thunderstorm one night and noticed that all 4 footwells had puddles!

fair few probs there then

you got any close ups of the leds on the front bumper?

wanna see what they look like, they have the chance of either being really good or really bad lol

good luck with all the probs btw!

It's probably a good thing that you didn't get a chance to get on the Ring with that list as it would have probably been longer!!

I'll get some pics of the LED's tomorrow and post them up.

brake lights are now sorted - as is the interior light.

Thought the smoke could be heat soke as we got stuck in traffic loads! or a boost leak!

The A/C i'll try and refill tomorrow morning!

heater problem has been doing it since I bought it randomly!

any pics yet?

Whats the problem with that? Unrestricted autobahn so perfectly legal and where you there to judge the prevailing conditions?

Yeah - what the biggie? Its perfectly normal for my sister to be cruising at 120mph in her Zafira GSi!

Hope that helps! let me know what you think!

i quite like them, whered you get them from? i presume you would hook them up to the side lights...

Totally agree and on the whole the roads are suited to it too.

In rain it's 50mph and I was pushing 140mph (GPS) when I went down to Munchen.

In regard to the problems I think the door carriers are leaking and that has caused you a set of electrical issues so worth checking them and sealling them, then trying to repair any damage from water ingress.

Not sure if the fabia can leak through the pollen filter or not.

As for your first issue, you must have really annoyed the BMW as flashing a car is illegal over there and it's pretty rare for them to do it IMHO. Usually they indicate left and stick behind you.

Perhaps he was Italian?

No arguement on the legal side of things...

I've driven a Fabia at nearly 135mph as the OP has quoted, and it didn't feel that stable.

So to attempt it with wife/2 kids in the car, just seems a bit silly.

And to be honest, i have doubts a Fabia laden with 4 people, stacked with lugagge, and a 415L roof box would even hit that speed !

Back to the car, the LED's look spot on. :)

It was at 135mph on the GPS, wife and 2 kids quite happily with roof box and fully loaded. It felt very stable - much better than my old G40 at 140mph!

It isnt a std VRS! suspension is modified along with RARB, tuning box & exhaust along with high performance tyres too.

Trust me there was family car's going way faster than us!

Glad you like the LED's - they are made by Prism and i got them from my work at Halfords - £16. Yep they are wired to the sidelight loom
