FL vRS - SatNav question

Featured Replies

I've just ordered an FL vRS and have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone might be able to answer, as my dealer hasn't been able to help.

1. From the pictures of the FL it appears as though the aerial base has a 'shark fin' profile, and I'm wondering if this section may contain the GPS receiver for the Columbus sat-nav. If it does have the receiver, is the same aerial base used for cars without sat-nav? The reason for asking is that it would make it easier to connect my re-radiating GPS antenna?

2. I've ordered a full-size spare wheel and made it clear to the dealer that this is what I want, but have been told that they can't guarantee it won't be a space saver as it depends on what the factory decide to install. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Thanks in advance.

I think the spare will probably be a 16" and classed as a space saver, I also believe that as the std size is 18" it can not fit in the well?

Thanks for the info. As I understand it the problem isn't with the diameter of the wheel/tyre, as this will obviously have to match the other wheels, but is more the width of the wheel.

My concern is that if the spare wheel well is large enough to accept a full width wheel, the car may still end up being delivered with a space saver. I have made it clear to the dealer that I want a full size wheel if it will fit, but was told they just 'tick a box' on the order and that what I end up with depends on what the factory decides to install.

The dealer hasn't been particuarly helpful so far, and were far from competitive with pricing despite my knowing they could do far better, so I ended up ordering through DrivetheDeal. As I suspected DtD ordered the car from the same dealer (for £2k less than they had quoted me!) so I'm not expecting them to be too interested in helping if I do end up with a space saver. :(

If the wheel is bigger than 16", then it will be what Skoda call a spacesaver. But the spacesaver is a full size 16".

Or certainly was pre-facelift as I had the 17" upgrade, and have a 16" full size steel. But the car docs say spacesaver.

but was told they just 'tick a box' on the order and that what I end up with depends on what the factory decides to install.

Don't they make you laugh, picture the scene at the production line as someone shouts 'Oh **** this one wants a spare wheel' his mate replies 'hurry up just throw any wheel in the boot damn it'.

Seriously though this is what a dealer also told me. Infact even after exchanging several emails and telephone calls with Skoda Customer Services they were unable to confirm what wheel and tyre size is fitted when specified as an optional extra.

Why do Skoda dealers treat their new car buying customers like idiots? Is expecting them to fully understand the products they are selling asking too much?

..
