Turbo and fuel

Featured Replies

I have a 2001 octavia tdi, it seems to sound as though the turbo has a permanent whistle all of a sudden, especially on tick over and there used to be a shut off noise that came on when the car switched off, that has stopped.

It also seems to be a bit heavier on the fuel.

Could this be a connected problem?

sounds like the antishudder valve may be sticking because of a lot of crud in the EGR valve which may also means that the EGR itself is sticking and losing some performance/mpg it could also stick shut just as easily which means next time no start, I would look there first :)

it may be the dreaded vnt turbo vanes sticking causing the whistling and high fuel consumption
