location of EGR valve on mk1 octy tdi

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the exact location of the egr valve on the tdi octavia so that i can diagnose for myself what the problem is.

If it's sticking then at least i can sort out the whistling turbo when idleing.

The EGR is bolted onto the inlet manifold.

The casting also contains a butterfly valve with shuts off the air to the engine to bring it to a halt. The other end of the casting connects to the intercooler outlet.

There is a third pipe from the exhaust manifold and it is this that connects to the part of the casting which contains the EGR valve itself.

I'm not sure this is the cause of the whistle. It is back-pressure in the turbine housing that causes the turbo to spin up at low throttle. This is created by moving vanes surrounding the turbine wheel.
