Rear Door is Locked

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls

Hopefully someone can help me?

The rear off side door on my Octy VRS Mk 1 has decided to stay locked.

Have tried to hold the knob up to try and open the door. Need to open the door to get the panel off to have a look whats wrong but cant as I need to open the door:(

Has anyone come across this before and has anybody any idea how I can open the door or get the panel off?

Thanks for any help

I saw that but does that only apply to the front door?

Ive looked at the other rear door and the screws run round the edge and you need the door open to get at them

Cheers

the same thing has happend to mine and its not good news buddy its the deadlock that has engaged and to get it off first they have to remove door cover ( cant get to screws ) so break clips off then they have to smash the crap out of the motor for it to release as its shagged...

cost

new motor £around 100

and the labour can be 30min job or a 3 hour job its the biggest pain in the **** you will ever find..

circa £250 to fix it :o:eek::mad:

check wiring loom in bottom left of front pass footwell(remove little panel at bottom with the little clipping flap with the two screws behind it then pull back carpet),

theres a 6 wire connecter covered by a rubber sleeve that sometimes traps moisture causing wiring to turn to green mush,

if so reconnect all wires and cross fingers as this may fix deadbolt,

if not, door panel screws are accessable if u peel off the door seal and use plain screwdriver & hammer to chap the edge of the screws enough to get long nose pliers on and unscrew,

if ur carefull and bash the lock in the right place( try hitting right down on lock hook area between lock body and door card side) it will open and poss not damage lock mec allowing door to poss still be used till problem can be found or in some cases you replace the lock,

before bashing check over all looms as they very commonly crack and turn green at door hinge areas

im pretty sure it'll be a wiring issue

good luck
