Coming/Leaving Home Function

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm sure I'm going to get a "RTFM" here, but honest I already have, several times!

I have a 2008 Octavia Scout fitted with auto/tunnel headlights but not the "information display" or "maxidot" as I think it is commonly referred to.

When I lock / unlock the car at night (with the switch set to auto) the headlights illuminate for a short period. The manual refers to this feature as "coming/leaving home function".

The manual does a great job at explaining how to turn this feature on but not off, I can't see how the procedure could be reversed to turn it off either.

I have a thing about unnecessary drains on the battery, and as I reverse my car onto the drive I really have no use for this feature.

Can I turn it off myself or is it a trip to dealer?

Many thanks,

Roy.

Might not be good at home, but very handy in an unlit carpark ;)

Damn shame you haven't got Maxidot... :(

It's a 2 min job with Vagcom... where abouts are you (update your profile!!)? ...you could sweet talk some kindly Briskodian in your locality to do it for you, rather than pay (& no doubt confuse) your Skoda dealer.

Have a look here at the Vagcom owners map to see if there's anyone nearby?

As a work-around, after locking it, you can unlock then immediately lock again... the lights will go off straight away on the second lock... they do on mine, anyway!

Thanks Simbo,

I'm in York, I'll update my profile now...

I wanted maxidot (and steering wheel controls) but couldn't find a car with everything I wanted :(

Im also want the auto lock so might have a trip to my dealer, only just got the car so I'm hoping they'll do it for free!

Anyone with vagcom can do all that too ;)

I had similar concerns....but found from a post on here that if you lock the car, lights come on, unlock and re-lock and they go off. This is useful if you're anywhere that you could do with a bit of light at night!
