Window regulator repair kit?

Featured Replies

Front driver's side window broke today in the Mrs's Silverline, door card off and one of the cables has snapped where it goes into the motor drive. A mate says this is a common problem on Mk4 Golfs, and he recently got a repair kit of eBay for around £30.

Anyone ever repaired the regulator, rather than replace? I don't want to buy a 2nd hand one cos it could break again.

Found this for £42 delivered for the Golf, does anyone know if it will fit?

Found this one specifically for the Octavia, but it's in Turkey. I only need the cable, but for less than £20 delivered, worth a punt?

The Golf one won't work on the Octavia as the Golf regulator is attached to a carrier plate like the Fabia. The second kit will quite likely work, but after spending time fitting the cables and fitting them again once they've fallen off you may wish that you got the regulator from Skoda for around £50.
